Led design for the launch of Kickstarter's first Android app. Worked closely with engineering to set the requirements and scope of the project.
The launch of Android doubled native pledge activity, and propelled Kickstarter's apps to represent over 30% of the company’s total revenue. Both of Kickstarter's native apps are also open source.
Led a cross-functional team focused on improving customer communication. Through user interviews, experience mapping, and working closely with customer support we learned the message inbox was one of the biggest pain points for Kickstarter project creators. Data showed that more than two thirds of the messages creators received were spam, and we gave them no tools to manage their inbox.
We worked closely with the data team to build and integrate a spam classifier to catch the majority of spam before it hit the inbox, we added functionality that would allow creators to archive old messages, and we improved the general user experience by updating styles, improving hierarchy, and elevating important information for both backers and creators.
